Dr. Yuan Xu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics at Ryerson University. He received his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering at Texas A&M University (2003) and Ph.D. in Physics at Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China (1999). Prior to hiring at Ryerson, Professor Xu was a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Department of Biomedical Engineering ,University of Minnesota and in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Texas A&M University. His research interests include Magneto-acousto-electrical tomography: a potential approach to image the electrical properties of biological tissues by combining ultrasound with magnetic field and Photoacoustic tomography. Professor Xu is a reviewer of IEEE Transactions on Medical Imaging, IEEE Transactions on Ultrasonics Ferroelectrics and Frequency Control, Applied Optics, and Inverse Problems. He is a member of Research Committee, Department of Physics, Ryerson University. Yuan Xu is the author of more than 20 research publications and invited book chapters:

1. Y. Xu and L.-H. V. Wang, “Medical imaging with microwave: Thermoacoustic tomography”, in Wiley Encyclopedia of RF and Microwave Engineering. New York: Wiley, 2004 (Invited).

2. Y. Xu and L.-H. V. Wang, “Limited-view photoacoustic or thermoacoustic tomography” and “Time reversal in photoacoustic tomography”, in Photoacoustic imaging and spectroscopy. Taylor and Francis, 2008 (Invited).
